Gone to look for America

Ahhh, 21 days/3 weeks exactly until I return home to California. To be honest, I can't wait! England is absolutely amazing for what it is. It has an incredible amount of history as well as creative arts to be offered but... nothing beats California in my opinion. You just don't get the same "good vibrations" or extravagance you do in Cali. My boyfriend who is actually a British citizen (but was born and raised in Los Angeles. His Dad is British, mother Californian) agrees. He'll be moving to California two months after I go. It's going to be such a lovely new chapter in our lives, I can already feel it...

The love, the sun on our skin, the beautiful weather and hidden forests... I guess it's just hard to leave a place that's already perfect. Only wish we had the same government benefits and National Health Service as they do here but you can't always have your cake and eat it too... ):

Current "Wants"

God, it's soooo sad! Whenever my boyfriend, John, is at work for the evening, I have nothing to really do but waste time on the internet or self-reflect. Yet lately I have developed this very bad habit of creating wishlists on multiple online stores while being very aware I am completely broke! I thought I'd might as well make something productive out of it and do a post. To share with you what I've been currently craving and wishing I had the means to afford... Surprisingly though most of the things are relatively cheap.

From top right to left: Plaited fine ball chain y-style necklace, Cropped wrap cardi, stone set ball chain earrings, deep-shopper bag, WAREHOUSE.CO.UK. Thandi bracelet set, F21. Hansine platform ankle boot with zip detail, MISSGUIDED.CO.UK

I would so wear all of these things together too, with a white tank and black leggings... I am just so obsessed with silver, metal, black mesh, faux leather and fur. The combination just oozes dark, almost intimidating, sexiness. My boyfriend was sweet enough to gift me the purse after hearing me long for it over a month now! I actually had it labeled in my bookmarks as "THE perfect purse", haha. I used to have a similar styled bag by H&M in brown but much more basic (no pockets) and of cheap quality... I'm ecstatic to receive the black one, it's like the new and improved version of my old bag and it was on sale for only 17 pounds! When I do, I plan to use it everyday for school in America. I also plan to do a look or two with it. Now if only I could magically conjure up the money for the rest of the items... Ah... the pain of being a broke college student...

English Summer Rain

Me standing in front of Carlisle Castle, which is just about a couple miles away from our flat. It was built over 900 years ago as a base against the Scots who were fighting the English over the land.

It's July 6th, cloudy, muggy, and cold once again in Northern England. To the natives this weather is just normal, to me it's quite the opposite. Back in Northern California this time of year is always hot and dry. They really mean it though when they say England is consistently gloomy and rainy. I think we only had about two consecutive months this year that actually had sun exposure. My boyfriend's coworker said this year's climate has been comparable to the weather of Alaska! I believe it and I didn't even experience last winter. Honestly it kind of feels as if I'm in the movie Billy Elliot. Except we're not in a town on the coast (thank god, the coast towns are even colder!). Maybe it's just the Mexican in me or a case of bad circulation, but the lack of warmth has been very hard on my body. ):

Me all bundled up(in a scarf, thermal, sweater, jacket and wool peacoat to be precise) and practically freezing beside the English sea. If you look far behind me you will see Scotland.

Siouxsie Sioux

Today I just wanted to share one of my fashion inspirations... and no she's not off the runway but rather off a different kind of stage. ;)

Here is the summary of her posted on Wikipedia:

Siouxsie Sioux (born Susan Janet Ballion on 27 May 1957 in London), is an English singer-songwriter. She is best known for her work as the lead singer of the rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees (1976-1996) and of its splinter group The Creatures (1981-2005). She has also sung with artists such as Morrissey[1] and John Cale.[2] In 2004, she began a solo career.

Siouxsie is considered to be "one of the most influential British singers of the rock era".[3] Her music has influenced a variety of artists including LCD Soundsystem,[4] Tricky,[5] Jeff Buckley[6] Massive Attack,[7] and TV on the Radio.[8]

She was also rated the number seven female rock artist by Q magazine in 2002.[9]

-------------------------------------

I think it's blatantly obvious that her style is being replicated in today's fashion. Not only was she respected for the incredible music she wrote but she was also recognized for her unique, extravagant taste in clothes. She consistently had an eye for assembling one-of-a-kind looks with bold prints and statement accessories.

Here are two of my favorite music videos for you to check out. Notice her gorgeous ensembles in both videos (& of course, the awesome music!).

I plan to do numerous posts on my fashion inspirations. Be forewarned though, absolutely none of them will be models. I could honestly care less about the fascination with models. My inspiration lies in only those that are artists and casuals around the world with their own personal styles. Basically people who are not simply human mannequins. Of course, I mean no offense to any models out there. You keep on rocking those clothes they pay you to look good in.

I've just recently joined LOOKBOOK.nu! I really love that site, such an amazing outlet for street style and real people globally. I've only posted two looks so far and these are it. Please feel free to hype if you like them. :)

First.

Finally got my own blog! It's always been something I've wanted to establish. Not for the purposes of an online diary, more so to discover people around the world with similar interests. I always love going through other peoples blogs and getting that intimate look inside. Not in a creepy way or anything, haha, just in such a way where you really get in touch with their human side. I don't believe in being artificial. It doesn't impress me... yet I feel that a lot of people are these days. However, I know it isn't true for a lot of cases. There are those in my generation who are merely in it for the same reason I am. We're here to connect. To search out those like our own...

Anyways! I feel like I should probably give a little introduction of myself:
I'm 19 years old, born March 8th. I'm a Pisces sun sign, Sagittarius moon, Libra rising (Yes, I am a true believer in Astrology! In fact, I'll probably elaborate on the subject sometime in the future). I am half Mexican, half German descent. Born and raised in Northern California, I've recently moved to Northern England to live with my boyfriend since last March. When I return home mid-August I plan to enroll into a cosmetology course to attain my license then go on to an art school to study fashion design. In all actuality though, I'm really a painter at heart, in which I excel in both digital and traditional mediums. Check out my deviantart and judge for yourself.

Hmmmm... well I think that is it for the time being. I will definitely continue to update this blog with personal photos and stories. I want to share with you what so many of you share with us. I really think blogging is a very wonderful, positive, and creative outlet! So much inspiration and ideas to be shared!

Tata for now!
